Had a long day at work yesterday. Started 3 1/2 hours early, and worked late past quitting time. I think they are trying to drive me crazy. I was in the middle of rebuilding a large commercial meter installation, when they called me off to go do a pin-off for the crew. A pin-off is a gas service retirement. You grind the service tee off of the gas main, hammer a steel taper pin into the hole, and then weld it closed, hammering and welding til it is sealed off. Usually have a little fire while doing that, once in a while a lot of fire. Yesterday's wasn't too bad, just a little fire. I always weld the side facing me first, so the fire is blowing away from me. While I was working at that, they sent me 2 more orders. I still had a couple hours of work remaining at that commercial meter stand job, hadn't even started any of my appliance orders, still haven't had time for any cathodic diagnosing, which needs to be done soon. I called a co-worker, because I was pretty sure he was doing nothing. He said he had no orders at all, so I called dispatch, told them to take the 2 new orders back, send them to the other guy. I don't know why they do that to me, the have a screen that displays how much work each worker has, they have gps to see where everyone is. I think they know they will get complaining and hassles from some workers, and others just do the work. But sometimes it gets a little too much to handle. When I finally got home last night, I microwaved a leftover hamburger, had to eat alone. Got online for a while to read the news, took a shower and went to bed. And now it is a new day, time to start the whole thing over again. Have phone messages from the mortgage company and a loan company, but I cannot bring myself to call them back this morning. I know my payments are late, if I had the money sooner, they would have theirs. I'll call them tomorrow, maybe I'll be feeling better.
