Work sucked yesterday.  I knew there would be a lot of jobs waiting for me, I was prepared for that.  One of my co-workers started calling me the minute my shift started.  I ignored him the first three times he called, because I was too busy to do his work for him, that's usually the reason he calls me.  I answered his fourth call, he wanted me to cover his on-call for monday and tuesday.  I said yes, because I need the extra money.  Then he said I should call another co-worker, he may need help staking the gas lines for a water main project.  I called him, but got no answer.  About a half hour later, just as I was beginning my lunch break, dispatch called me about a hit gas line at that same water main project.  I rushed right over, found they had ripped into an 1 1/4" steel gas line with their hydraulic hoe, because the line had not been staked.   Spent the next couple hours repairing that, and staking the rest of the block.  I don't eat at work, but I use my lunch break to read my newspaper and do the crossword puzzle, always bugs me when I don't get a break.  Some days I need that break, helps me manage the stress of a hectic day.   Didn't have any time yesterday to do any cathodic diagnosing, hope to find time for that today.  And I hope I have time to check on that water main crew, they have a reputation for excessive dig-ins, even when the lines are all staked for them.
